Saint Nicholas and the Mouse of Myra
A Graphic Novel
Are the legends of St. Nicholas true?
The life of St. Nicholas of Myra comes alive in this book for all ages. From his beginnings as a young priest in Asia Minor in the late third century until just before his death, you will see him learn and practice the generosity that led to him becoming the father of Christmas giving (“St. Nick”).
As with Saint Francis and Brother Duck, Jay Stoeckl’s first foray into this genre, a single, fictional character is added, through whom the wisdom and Christian teachings of Nicholas are revealed through dialogue. In this case, it is Cicero, a Greek-attired philosopher- mouse. Cicero questions many of Nicholas’s decisions, often hilariously, until the mouse himself converts to Christianity late in the story.
An excellent introduction to the life of one of the most important, least-understood, real characters in Christian history.
